Dr. Abdul Shakoor is one of the few well reputed psychiatrists around who believes and practices in the art of psychiatry based on a balanced combination of pharmacological and psychotherapeutic interventions. He got his postgraduate training in psychiatry at Academic Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Sciences, Mayo Hospital/ King Edward Medical College, Lahore under supervision of Professor I A K Tareen and Professor Emeritus K I Tareen. After passing his FCPS (Psych) he joined Children Hospital, Lahore as Assistant Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and got an invaluable experience of understanding and managing a wide range of psychiatric disorders including Mental Retardation, Learning Difficulties, ADHD and Pervasive Developmental Disorders like Autism. In the year 2000, Dr. Shakoor joined Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Lahore and ever since he is heading the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Medicine. While working at Sheikh Zayed Hospital he got the vast experience of Liaison Psychiatry i.e. assessment and management of patients suffering from both physical illnesses as well as psychiatric disorders.
